Epiphone

By on Thursday, June 20th, 2013.

A 1963 Epiphone Wilshire. It was the first one that I ever owned. My dad allowed me to take out the Canada Savings Bonds that my mother had started for me when I was about 7 years old. Her idea was for me to start a ‘college fund’ at the time. I guess in a way it was. I have been going to rock & roll college since I was 13 years old, when my dad let me take the money out of the ‘Royal Bank’ account. Up to that time, I had borrowed guitars to play gigs – even the ‘Baldwin Baby Bison’ that my brother borrowed from somebody else so he could play his guitar gig in the band ‘Topo’ (he was actually more of a bass-player and didn’t own a regular guitar). Sadly, I no longer have it because I traded it for a ‘New Fender Stratocaster’ in 1976. When I came to my right mind again and realized what I had done, I phoned the music store I traded it at to hold it for me. Of course, they had already sold it to a collector.

1963 Epiphone Guitar - this is pretty much what the first Guitar that I ever bought looked like.
